What is Shuffled?

A daily ritual. Once a day you receive one verified card shuffle - a full 52-card deck, shuffled server-side with cryptographic randomness - and see how closely it matches every shuffle ever recorded here. Patterns in your deck (finds) and achievements build a personal collection over time.

Is the shuffle really random?

Yes. The deck is shuffled on the server using Node's crypto module - the same cryptographically secure generator that underpins TLS encryption - driving a Fisher-Yates shuffle, which makes all 52! arrangements precisely equally probable. Each shuffle is fingerprinted with a SHA-256 hash, and the shuffle code is public at github.com/Gradmania/shuffled-verification. The full chain is on the how it works page.

Why only one shuffle per day?

Scarcity is the point. You get one arrangement that has almost certainly never existed before and will almost certainly never exist again. If you could reroll it, it would stop mattering. Nothing on the site grants extra shuffles - not achievements, not registration, nothing.

Has a deck of cards ever been shuffled the same way twice?

Almost certainly not. A 52-card deck has 52! possible arrangements - about 8 × 10⁶⁷, more than there are atoms in our Solar System - so even counting every shuffle in history, the chance of any two identical true shuffles is vanishingly small. What counts as a match?

The same card in the same position in two different shuffles: if your 14th card is the Queen of Hearts and so is a stranger's, that is one match. Your result is the closest anyone's shuffle has ever come to yours. On average two random decks share exactly one position; seven or more is roughly a 1-in-13,700 event for a given pair.

Do I need an account?

No. Shuffled is anonymous by default - your shuffle reads as "someone in Melbourne", never a username. You can optionally register an email to keep your collection across devices and cookie loss; registration never gates anything, and your email is never shown to other players.

Is Shuffled free?

Yes - free to play, no account required. The project is made by one person and kept alive by voluntary player support.

What happens to my shuffle after today?

It joins the archive permanently, and every future shuffle is measured against it. If someone comes closer to your old shuffle than anyone ever has, you are told about it when you return - even years later.
